The specialty of Anti – Aging Medicine is a relatively new specialty in the medical
field. The American Academy of Anti - Aging Medicine was established in 1992 to
facilitate the promotion, support, and growth of this new specialty.
There is a general consensus among medical practitioners that about sixty – five
percent of our health as we age is dominated by predetermined genetics or DNA. The
remaining thirty – five percent is determined by environmental and life style factors
that accumulate over time as we become older.
At the Anti Aging Institute of The Americas we focus on the thirty – five percent
of our health that is effected by environmental and lifestyle choices people make
as they advance in years through life.
At the Anti Aging Institute of The Americas we focus on six basic categories to
insure that our patients can maximize the quality of their lives as they advance
through the aging process. These categories are prevention, nutrition, exercise,
hormone replacement, emotional wellbeing , and mental acuity.
Prevention: Unfortunately most male patients in their thirties,
forties, fifties, and sixties do not visit a medical doctor until they have a problem
and often the problem can have progressed to a grave condition with a negative prognosis.
At The Anti Aging Institute of The Americas all of our patients participating in
our anti – aging program are required to have a thorough medical exam and a panel
of blood tests one time per year. This insures our patients that early signs of
cardiovascular disease, prostrate cancer , and diabetes can be detected in the early
stages and cured without requiring invasive surgeries or expensive medications.
Nutrition: At the Anti Aging Institute of The Americas all patients
body weight, percentage of body fat, metabolic weight, and metabolic age are measured
and documented. Goals are established for our patients body fat levels, blood pressure,
and cholesterol . Patients have the opportunity to meet with our nutritionist to
design a custom diet plan suitable to the patients current state of health and their
goals. Patients are educated as to what food products can be detrimental to their
health and long term well being.
Exercise: At The Anti Aging Institute all patients make a commitment
to a well -rounded exercise program incorporating aerobic, anaerobic , and resistance
training. Under the guidance of one of our licensed physical trainers patients have
a custom designed exercise program to insure that they can fulfill their goals to
look and feel younger.
Hormone Replacement: At the Anti Aging Institute of the Americas
our goal is to elevate our patients levels of human growth hormone HGH and testosterone
to the levels they had in their early twenties . Our goal is to elevate human growth
hormone levels to a IGF – 1 factor of 350 and a total testosterone level of 1200.
The combined effects of hormone replacement yield a substantial amount of benefits
including increased recovery and healing. Increased energy and stamina , muscle
mass, declines in body fat ,increased bone density, increased libido are just some
of the benefits derived from hormone replacement.
Emotional Well Being and Mental Acuity: It is important for all
retired patients to be engaged socially and mentally. Having a significant other
and maintaining regular social contact with family and friends insures emotional
stability and a feeling of well being and happiness. Mental acuity can be maintained
by engaging in provocative behavior such as reading, writing , painting, hobbies,
math games, learning a new language or instrument. Excess time invested in watching
typical network television programs does not provide the same level of stimulation
as engaging in activities that require focus and concentration.
